How to keep score in Wingspan
Wingspan is scored after the fourth round, in six categories. Add the points printed on your birds and bonus cards and your points from the end-of-round goals. Then score 1 for every egg, every food token cached on a bird and every card tucked under one. The highest total wins.

The six scoring categories
Everything is counted at the end of the game, apart from the end-of-round goals, which you mark on the goal board as you go.
| Category | Points |
|---|---|
| Birds | The feather points on each bird in your habitats |
| Bonus cards | As each card says, for the birds that qualify |
| End-of-round goals | From the goal board, round by round |
| Eggs | 1 for each egg on your birds |
| Food on cards | 1 for each food token cached on a bird |
| Tucked cards | 1 for each card tucked under a bird |
Food left in your supply scores nothing, and neither do cards in your hand. Count the food anyway: it breaks a tie.
End-of-round goals
At the end of each round, everyone is measured against that round's goal tile, such as birds in one habitat or eggs in one kind of nest. Mark your result with one of your action cubes, which is why you have one fewer turn each round. You need at least 1 of the item to score anything.
The green side of the goal board is the usual one. It ranks the players, and later rounds are worth more:
- Round 1: 1st 4, 2nd 1, 3rd 0
- Round 2: 1st 5, 2nd 2, 3rd 1
- Round 3: 1st 6, 2nd 3, 3rd 2
- Round 4: 1st 7, 2nd 4, 3rd 3
Tied players share the place. Add the points for that place and the one below it, divide by the number of tied players and round down. Two players tied for 1st in round 2 get (5 + 2) ÷ 2 = 3 each, and the next player is 3rd. Fourth place and below score 0.
The blue side is less cut-throat: 1 point for each of the goal's items you have, up to 5 a round.
Bonus cards
You keep one bonus card at the start, and some birds let you draw more. Each scores for birds that meet its condition. Some pay a set amount once you have enough birds, others pay for every bird. Score every bonus card you hold, and a card whose condition you missed scores 0.
The expansions
The European expansion adds birds, bonus cards and goals but keeps the same six categories.
The Oceania expansion adds nectar. At the end, in each habitat, the player who spent the most nectar there scores 5 and the second most scores 2. You need at least 1 nectar in that habitat, and ties split the points as the goals do.
What people often get wrong
- Cached food isn't your supply. Only food tokens on bird cards score. Food in your supply only breaks ties.
- Goals need at least one. With none of the goal's item, you score 0, even if nobody else has any.
- A tie skips the next place. Two players tied for 1st means no 2nd place that round.
- Every egg counts. Each egg on a bird is 1 point, whatever the bird is worth.
A scoring example
The final count in a three-player game on the green side of the goal board.
| Ana | Ben | Cleo | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birds | 38 | 45 | 31 |
| Bonus cards | 7 | 4 | 10 |
| End-of-round goals | 13 | 8 | 16 |
| Eggs | 15 | 9 | 18 |
| Food on cards | 3 | 6 | 0 |
| Tucked cards | 8 | 12 | 3 |
| Total | 84 | 84 | 78 |
Ana's 13 goal points: 4 for 1st in round 1, 3 for a shared 1st with Cleo in round 2, 2 for 3rd in round 3 and 4 for 2nd in round 4.
Ana and Ben tie on 84. Ana has 2 food tokens left in her supply and Ben has 1, so Ana wins.

Questions
How do you score Wingspan?
After round 4, add six categories: the points on your birds, your bonus cards, your end-of-round goals, and 1 point for each egg, each food token cached on a bird and each card tucked under a bird.
How many points are end-of-round goals worth in Wingspan?
On the green side, 1st place scores 4, 5, 6 and 7 in rounds 1 to 4, 2nd scores 1, 2, 3 and 4, and 3rd scores 0, 1, 2 and 3. On the blue side, you score 1 for each item, up to 5.
How do ties work for Wingspan round goals?
Tied players add the points for their place and the place below, divide by how many tied and round down. The next place isn't awarded.
Does leftover food score points in Wingspan?

Do eggs count for points in Wingspan?
Yes. Every egg on your birds at the end of the game is worth 1 point.
How many rounds are in Wingspan?
Four. You have 8 turns in round 1, then 7, 6 and 5, because one action cube marks each round's goal.
