- Write We and They at the top. Each deal, put the trick points for a contract bid and made under Below, and everything else (overtricks, bonuses, penalties, honours) under Above, for the side that earns it.
- Tricks over six: clubs and diamonds 20, hearts and spades 30, no trump 40 then 30. Doubled × 2, redoubled × 4. When a side's Below points since the last game reach 100, that's a game: draw a line across under that deal, and both sides count the next game from 0.
- Undertricks: 50 each, 100 vulnerable. Doubled: 100, 200, 200, then 300 each, or 200, then 300 each vulnerable. Redoubled: twice that. Making a doubled contract 50, redoubled 100.
- Slams: 500 or 750 for 12 tricks, 1,000 or 1,500 for 13. Rubber: 700 for two games to none, 500 for two to one. At the end, add each side's Below and Above totals.
- Chicago: deal 1 nobody vulnerable, deals 2 and 3 the dealer's side, deal 4 both. A game 300, or 500 vulnerable. A part-score on deal 4 that isn't a game 100.
