How to keep score in Qwixx
Qwixx is scored once, at the end. For each of the four colour rows, count your crosses and look up the points: the more crosses, the faster the points grow, up to 78 for twelve. Add the four rows, take off 5 for each penalty, and the highest total wins.

Points for each row
Count the crosses in a row, including the lock if you closed that row, and read off its points. Each cross is worth one more than the one before: the first adds 1, the second 2, the third 3, and so on.
| Crosses in a row | Points |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1 |
| 2 | 3 |
| 3 | 6 |
| 4 | 10 |
| 5 | 15 |
| 6 | 21 |
| 7 | 28 |
| 8 | 36 |
| 9 | 45 |
| 10 | 55 |
| 11 | 66 |
| 12 | 78 |
A row has 11 numbers and a lock, so 12 crosses is the most one row can hold. Score all four rows this way, add them up, and take 5 off for each penalty.
Crossing out numbers
Red and yellow run from 2 up to 12, green and blue from 12 down to 2. In every row you cross numbers out from left to right. You can skip numbers, but you can never go back for them.
On each turn, the active player rolls all six dice. First, anyone may cross out the total of the two white dice, in any one row. Then the active player alone may add one white die to one coloured die and cross out that total in the row of the same colour.
Penalties
If the active player crosses out nothing at all on their turn, they mark one penalty box. Each penalty is −5 at the end. Other players never take a penalty for passing.
There are four penalty boxes, and marking the fourth ends the game.
Locking a row and ending the game
To cross out the last number in a row (red or yellow 12, green or blue 2), you need at least five crosses in that row already. Cross out the lock beside it too: the lock counts as one more cross. The row is now closed for everyone, and its coloured die leaves the game.
The game ends as soon as a second row is locked, or someone marks their fourth penalty. Then everyone adds up.
Adding up at the end
- For each colour, count the crosses, the lock included, and look up the points
- Add the four colours together
- Take off 5 for each penalty
- The highest total wins
A scoring example
Mia and Leo at the end of a game. Mia locked yellow and Leo locked red, which ended it.
| Row | Mia's crosses | Mia's points | Leo's crosses | Leo's points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Red | 6 | 21 | 9 | 45 |
| Yellow | 8 | 36 | 4 | 10 |
| Green | 3 | 6 | 7 | 28 |
| Blue | 5 | 15 | 2 | 3 |
| Penalties | 1 | −5 | 2 | −10 |
| Total | 73 | 76 |
Each lock counts as a cross, so Mia's 7 yellow numbers make 8 crosses and Leo's 8 red numbers make 9. Mia has 78 from her rows and loses 5. Leo has 86 and loses 10 for his two penalties. Leo wins, 76 to 73.

Questions
How do you score Qwixx?
Count your crosses in each colour row, the lock included, and look up the points: 1 cross is 1, 4 are 10, 8 are 36 and 12 are 78. Add the four rows and take off 5 for each penalty.
How many crosses do you need to lock a row in Qwixx?
Five. With at least five crosses in a row, you can cross out its last number (red or yellow 12, green or blue 2) and the lock, which closes the row for everyone.
Does the lock count as a cross in Qwixx?
Yes. The lock is one more cross in that row. Five numbers, then the last number and the lock, make 7 crosses, worth 28.
How much is a penalty in Qwixx?
−5 each. The active player takes one when they cross out nothing on their turn, and a fourth penalty ends the game.
When does a game of Qwixx end?
As soon as two rows are locked, or someone marks their fourth penalty. Then everyone adds up their sheet.
What is the most points you can get in one Qwixx row?
78, for 12 crosses: all 11 numbers and the lock. Only a player who locks the row can get there.
Can you go back for a skipped number in Qwixx?
No. Numbers are crossed out from left to right, and any you skip are gone for good.
